Thanks to everyone who followed the progress of this piece. I hope it meets your expectations.
On a personal note, I'm a big fan of this series (obviously). I'm also a huge fan of Kane Hodder behind the hockey mask. Despite this, the basic look of Jason here is primarily based on the remade Friday the 13th with Derek Mears in the role. This choice was made because I liked the various textures of the outfit with the coat on. The folds and wrinkles are fun and the shading is a favorite technique. It just went well together. The woods were drawn in a more fantastic style because I like the idea of Jason as some sort of elemental force of nature, like the spirit of Crystal Lake. This is not my idea, but came from an early draft the Freddy vs. Jason screenplay written by Peter Briggs in the mid-1990s that I really liked. I wanted it to seem like the woods were alive behind Jason, working with him. The trees were designed to form a doorway blocked by the fallen tree behind the main figure, as though this had once been a route to safety. Anyway... who reads this stuff anyways?
